Released on Veterans Day 2012, the collection of writing (and photos) by those who have served and some of their family members, met with immediate success. An initial press run of 1,000 books diminished so rapidly that, by mid-morning on November 27th, just 16 days later, a second printing was ordered!
November 27 also marked a St. Louis launch event, with a number of our contributors sharing their words at a reading as part of the St. Louis Poetry Center’s “Poetry at the Point” Series.
St. Louis’ Focal Point, the regular venue for Poetry at the Point, was filled with friends, family members, and members of the community who were a captive audience for the writers who came from all over the country for the opportunity to share their words from the first volume of the Proud to Be. You can view a video montage of the reading here.
